About Salish Wolf
Inspired by the lone wolf Takaya who thrived alone for nearly a decade on a tiny archipelago in the Salish Sea, Salish Wolf began as a podcast in 2020 to share incredible stories of the human spirit. Fifty episodes later, while my passion for the craft of bowmaking and traditional archery grew, my publication focus narrowed to the world of bowcraft. Season 2 of the Salish Wolf Podcast focuses on bowyers, the craftspeople who carve bows, and follows the trail of my next undertaking, Project Quiver, which entailed global travels with my daughter, Ela, and resulted in a one-of-a-kind publication, the acclaimed book Quiver: The Art of Life through Bowcraft. This photography-rich book, with all photos taken by Ela, features 14 of the world’s finest primitive bowyers, and continues the narrative theme of exploring the wonders of the human spirit, in this case specifically pertaining to the passionate pursuit of a craft. Inspired by the theme of the book as indicated in the subtitle, my musings have now veered into two distinct but parallel paths: the art of living through the passionate pursuit of a craft - the “Art of Life” - and the intimate and niche world of bowcraft - the “Bowyers’ Dispatch”.
